To the families of Whitmore Charter High School students,

This letter is to inform you of a policy change in regards to student cell phone/electronic device use on campus. In previous school years student use of cell phones on campus has not been an issue and has been permitted, but as the school has transitioned from a strict home-school to a university model it has become apparent to administration and staff that a policy change is needed. Effective Monday, November 26th, 2007, students may no longer use cell phones or other electronic devices while out on campus grounds, between classes or during class time. Students may continue to use cell phones inside the designated student “wolf den” or in the high school office in order to call home.

If at anytime you need to contact your son or daughter, please call the high school office at 556 -1617 or the main school office at 556-1600, and your son or daughter will be brought out of class to receive the phone call. Please do not contact your student’s cell phone during class time as it may result in disciplinary actions. These policy changes are in compliance with Ceres Unified School District and Board Policy in regards to electronic devices. The document attached to this letter is the discipline procedures for violation of the policy. Please review the following information with your student. If you have any questions regarding the policy, please call the high school office and ask to speak to an administrator.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding,
